About
Sheree Moates

A Christian artist with an eye for God's "displays of splendor"

Shereé Moates has had a lifelong fascination with color and nature and how light affects them both. Having spent more than 25 years of study with renowned artist Dalhart Windberg, Shereé has poured her heart and her dedication into honing her craft and developing skill from her natural talent.

Shereé has also studied with nationally acclaimed artists Jeff Legg and Elizabeth Robbins and is a member of Oil Painters of America and American Women Artists. She is known for her inspirational works which she has had the honor of speaking about to churches, women's groups, and civic clubs. She now has a file of "Thank You" cards from people who have been touched by these God-inspired works. Shereé is also well known for her landscapes and in recent years has expanded her repertoire to still life paintings. She has won numerous Best of Show and People's Choice awards.

Early life

From Shereé’s first box of crayon’s and her mother enrolling her in children’s workshops on university campuses, she developed a love for color and creativity. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Shereé continued her interest studying at workshops and receiving her associate's degree in art. A turning point in her education came when she was chosen to study with renowned Texas artist, Dalhardt Windberg. Questions that had not been answered for her, were now being answered by Mr. Windberg as he ushered in another level in her education.

Artistry focus

Although the inspirational art is her main focus, Shereé also enjoys painting nature and florals from God’s handiwork. Shereé works in several art mediums including Prismacolors, watercolors, and pastels with oil paint being her primary medium. She feels the subject dictates it’s own medium, and she does not want to limit herself or God. This brings a wide variety to her artwork.

Personal life

Shereé and her husband Mike live on a farm and ranch in West Texas. Together, the Moates have two grown daughters, who she says are her best critics, as well as two grandchildren.

"From my very realistic brush paintings to my more impressionistic palette knife works, my goal is to draw the viewer into the art of nature, still life, and the inspirational in hopes that they will linger a while and feel a sense of peace away from this chaotic world."

About
The Process

The process of conceptualizing a new piece of art in the mind and bringing it to fruition is a captivating journey that demands a creativity, imagination, and expertise. It all begins with an idea or inspiration that ignites the artist's imagination, and then the artist begins to visualize the artwork in the mind's eye. The artist may create rough drafts or take notes to help refine the vision, and in the case of Shereé Moates, much time is spent pouring through Scripture to align a new piece of artwork with the words of God. Finally, after days or even weeks of work, the artwork is complete. The process is a fulfilling one that enables the expression of not just an artist's ideas but the very heart of God, ministering in ways that words sometimes cannot accomplish.

“It is my sincere hope that my paintings will touch your life in a way that brings you closer to a realization of God and His marvelous creations. What you will see are works of art that have been inspired by impressions God has put in my mind's eye. From a farmer praying for rain, to a lost lamb, to the rapture of God’s people, each painting tells a story of how God can and does work in the lives of believers and non-believers.”
