"Nothing But the Blood"

An old song from my childhood days represents the title for this painting. The song’s verse says:
“What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Oh precious is the flow,
That makes me white as snow No other fount I know.
Nothing but the blood of Jesus."
Nothing but the blood of Jesus, does make us whole again. Sin stands between us and God, but the sacrificial blood of Jesus for us provides us access to God.
O what love! Love that flooded God’s heart, for Him to offer as sacrifice His only son by such a cruel death. Did you ever wonder why such a cruel death? Why not quick and easy? Why so much suffering for someone like me and you? I do not even attempt to answer that question, but I am so glad and grateful for the amazing love of God.
Ephesians 1:7-8 says, ”In Him(Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.” How do we receive this gift of forgiveness? By believing that God sent His son Jesus to die on a cross of Roman crucifixion. That three days later Jesus rose up from that grave alive and walked on this earth for hundreds of witnesses to see Him. He then ascended into heaven and lives with God. By believing that we have all sinned, done what is wrong and not pleasing to God. By believing that we cannot save ourselves (we can not be perfect). By believing... by faith...
Do you believe? Where is your faith? Is your faith in yourself or a dead god?
I hope you will consider the blood of Jesus, shed and sacrificed for you. If you have not given your heart to Him in faith, all you have to do is pray to Him, ask for forgiveness of your sin, believe in your heart what He did, and ask Him to be the Lord of your life. It is simple. Jesus did the hard part, God made it simple for you.
What can make me whole again? What can make you whole again? Nothing but the blood!!
